Good Shepherd Catholic School is seeking a dynamic, faith-filled Middle School Reading and Writing Teacher to join our dedicated faculty. The ideal candidate is passionate about literature and writing, committed to academic excellence, and eager to support the mission of Catholic education.
As a key member of our middle school team, the Reading and Writing Teacher will cultivate students’ skills in reading comprehension, literary analysis, grammar, and written expression. Our middle schoolers are creative, curious, and ready to be challenged—this position is ideal for a teacher who can inspire a love of learning and help students become confident, thoughtful communicators.
Responsibilities Include:
- Designing and implementing engaging reading and writing lessons aligned with standards
- Teaching grammar, vocabulary, and various forms of writing (narrative, expository, persuasive, research)
- Encouraging a love of reading through literature studies and independent reading projects
- Assessing and tracking student progress, using data to guide instruction
- Creating a positive, supportive, and faith-centered classroom environment
- Collaborating with other middle school teachers and participating in school life Communicating regularly with families about student progress
- Integrating Catholic values into teaching and daily interactions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field
- Valid Kentucky teaching certification
- Middle school teaching experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of reading and writing instruction at the middle school level
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
