Job DetailsJob Location: Robstown, TX 78380Position Type: Part TimeSt John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Robstown, Texas, is hiring a part-time Custodian. Under the supervision of the Administrator, the Custodian performs cleaning and light maintenance duties as assigned. The Custodian ensures Administrator is informed and consulted on all matters and operations of the facilities daily.
Ministerial Character:
The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Responsibilities:
As an integral part of ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
Continuously grow in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
Cleans offices, restrooms, common areas, and all other assigned areas as assigned
Removes trash from building for disposal, complying with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste
Maintains inventory of required custodial supplies
Moves furniture, supplies and other materials as required
Performs other duties as assigned
Mental/Physical Demands:
Ability to manage duties effectively and tactfully
Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more
Ability to climb ladder, stoop, bend, stand, operate general custodial equipment and tools
Handle chemicals, hazardous materials, etc.
Ability to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stress
Ability to Maintain confidentiality
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
One year experience in custodial work
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with diocesan policies and procedures
Valid Texas driver’s license
Additional Requirements:
Must submit to required pre-employment screening including criminal history background check, motor vehicle check record check (MVR), and drug screening
Complete certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child and Family Resources
Requires adherence to all diocesan policies and procedures
