This position will serve at the Corpus Christi Cathedral. This is a part-time, as needed position which primarily works during weekends.
Ministerial Character:
The Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (The Diocese) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.

As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both your professional and personal life
Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
While the parish respects the private views of all employees, the Cantor is expected to maintain a professional demeanor that is respectful of the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church
A well-groomed, professional appearance is required at all times
Perform other duties as assigned

Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to maintain composure under duress
Ability to perform in front of crowds
QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
Valid Texas driver's license
Strong vocal proficiency and the ability to read music fluently
Experience in choral singing and the ability to hold a part independently
Reliable punctuality and professional communication
Ability to work independently and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and members of the community
Flexible schedule
Additional Requirements:
Must successfully complete pre-employment screening including criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review (MVR), and drug screening
Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources is required
Must adhere to all Diocesan policies and procedures
