Middle School / High School Art Teacher
Position Summary
The Middle School / High School Art teacher is responsible for Instruction in visual arts that includes art production, art history, art criticism, and aesthetics. Students develop skills using a variety of media while learning the elements of art and principles of design. The teacher will foster creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression through the creation and presentation of artwork. Students will learn to analyze and interpret works of art, making connections to culture, history, and personal experience, within a faith-based educational
environment. This educator supports the intellectual, spiritual, moral, and emotional development of students, integrating Catholic values and teachings into
daily classroom practice. The teacher collaborates with faculty, administration, and families to foster a culture of academic excellence and Christian discipleship.
Primary Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
Plan and deliver standards-based instruction in the fine arts and visual arts to middle & high school students
Develop lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities use data-driven practices to assess student progress and adjust instruction
Incorporate technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance learning
Prepare students for college readiness, standardized assessments, and real-world application of visual arts, art education and related arts concepts

Integrate faith into the curriculum where appropriate Support the spiritual development of students through prayer, liturgy participation, and school faith activities

Design and administer formative and summative assessments

Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress
Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events
Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities
Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and interdisciplinary initiatives
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school committees
Support extracurricular activities, clubs, or coaching as needed
Engage in ongoing professional growth and formation
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in an arts related discipline, Education, or a related field
Commitment to the mission of Catholic education
Strong content knowledge in all aspects of visual arts, and art education approaches
Preferred
Master’s degree in an arts related discipline, Education, or a related field
Previous middle / high school teaching experience
Valid state teaching certification (or ability to obtain)
Familiarity with differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
Practicing Catholic in good standing
