St. James School is looking for a dynamic Physical Education Teacher to join our learning community. This is an exciting opportunity to be part
of living out the St. James School mission. The ideal candidate will inspire students to live healthy, active lives—both physically and
mentally—while supporting the development of the whole child.
Key Responsibilities
● Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate physical education lessons for K–8 students
● Promote physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and lifelong healthy habits
● Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment for all students
● Integrate character development and Catholic values into instruction and activities
● Encourage student participation, confidence, and personal growth
● Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback
● Organize and support school-wide fitness initiatives and activities
● Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student well-being
● Communicate effectively with parents and guardians
● Participate in school events, liturgies, and professional development
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field
● Valid state teaching license (or ability to obtain)
● Strong classroom management and organizational skills
● Child-centered approach with an understanding that physical health is integral to educating the whole child
● Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education
● Practicing Catholic preferred, or willingness to support the Catholic identity of the school
● Growth mindset and commitment to ongoing professional learning
● Firm belief that all children can and must succeed
