Ministerial Character:
The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Responsibilities:

Administrative
Oversee day-to-day operations of the TAMUCC Newman Center including finances, operations, and facilities management, including but not limited to creating yearly budgets, paying bills by creating disbursement forms, cast vision for future projects for the Newman Center and Chapel
Manage and supervise student interns including coordinating the application, interviewing, and training of applicants and student interns and ensuring interns complete assigned tasks
Coordinate and lead set gatherings, including but not limited to Islander Lunches, orientation events, Welcome Week, Graduation Mass and Reception
Promote TAMUCC Newman Center by establishing key relationships and resources in the community, on campus, and in the local parishes
Coordinate the recruitment of volunteers
Organize and maintain files
Participates in training and educational opportunities for development and in diocesan and regional meetings, programs, and projects as directed
Performs other duties as assigned by the Chaplain
Ministerial
As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both your professional and personal life
Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
Create calendar of activities for campus ministry
Generate ideas and support campus ministry events and gatherings
Support student formation that encourages and trains them to be effective leaders in the church and society, rooted in Gospel values and in service
Assist with faith and spiritual formation events
Coordinate and attend regularly scheduled student weekly events
Oversee the design and updating of the website, social media, and promotion of events
Create schedule of liturgical ministers
Collaborate with other student organizations
Coordinate student outreach and promotion of TAMUCC Newman Center with other members of Newman Staff
Engagement of Alumni via Newsletter
Mental/Physical Demands:
Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more
Ability to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stress
Maintain confidentiality
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Know the basic teachings of the Catholic Church and live by them with an openness to learn more about the Faith
Food handler's license preferred
Valid Texas driver's license
Additional Requirements:
Must submit to required pre-employment screening including criminal history background check, motor vehicle check record check (MVR), and drug screening
Complete certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child and Family Resources
Requires adherence to all diocesan policies and procedures
