Job Summary
St. Ambrose Catholic School is seeking a full-time learning consultant. This leadership role works with the teachers to make sure every child's academic needs are being met—by coordinating academic interventions and challenge groups, supporting teachers, guiding student learning plans, and serving as a liaison with the St. Louis Public Schools and other private professionals who provide evaluations.
Under the direction of the Principal and Assistant Principal, the Learning Consultant plays a critical role in building a supportive learning environment that embraces all learners and reflects the Catholic values at the heart of our school.
Job Responsibilities
Student Support & Intervention
- Provide direct support and interventions for Prek-3rd grade students with diverse learning needs.
- Develop, maintain, and distribute individualized Learning Profiles; ensure accommodations and modifications are implemented by classroom teachers.
- Support and guide the CARE Team in identifying and supporting students requiring academic and emotional interventions.
- Work with teachers to provide challenge opportunities for our students who are ready to move beyond our written curriculum.
Liaison with St. Louis Public Schools and other professionals
- Coordinate all aspects of the referral process, including data collection, packet completion, and communication with families.
- Serve as the primary contact for professionals.
- Schedule and participate in evaluation meetings.
- Facilitate collaboration between professionals, including tutors and therapists, and school faculty.
Assessment Coordination
- Manage all aspects of NWEA/MAP testing, including student rostering, school-wide scheduling, and implementation of accommodations.
- Proctor assessments or train and schedule proctors to meet individual student needs.
- Organize and administer Kindergarten readiness screenings each spring.
Faculty Collaboration & Professional Development
- Collaborate with teachers to implement effective instructional strategies and monitor student progress
- Maintain the Penthouse and instructional materials.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education required; Special Education concentration or Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid Missouri Teaching Certification required.
- Extensive knowledge of reading intervention programs and student support services.
- Experience working with special education services and academic accommodations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Practicing Catholic preferred, or a strong respect for and commitment to Catholic educational values.
