Job Summary
The Middle School Social Studies and Religion Teacher at Christ the King Catholic School is responsible for providing high-quality, faith-centered instruction in social studies and religion to middle school students. This role supports students’ academic growth, critical thinking, and faith formation while fostering a respectful, engaging learning environment aligned with Catholic values and the mission of the school.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction in middle school Social Studies and Religion.
- Teach social studies content such as history, geography, civics, and culture while promoting critical thinking and analysis.
- Provide systematic instruction in Catholic theology, Scripture, Church teachings, morals, and traditions.
- Integrate Catholic values and faith formation into daily instruction and classroom culture.
- Develop and implement lessons that address diverse learning styles and academic needs.
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instructional practices.
- Create and maintain a structured, respectful, and positive classroom environment.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior in accordance with school policies.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student progress and expectations.
- Collaborate with faculty, administration, and campus ministry to support student learning and school initiatives.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, liturgical celebrations, and school events.
- Adhere to all school policies, diocesan guidelines, and professional expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Theology, Religious Studies, or a related field (required).
- Teaching certification or eligibility (preferred).
- Practicing Catholic with a strong understanding of Catholic teachings (preferred).
- Experience teaching middle school students (preferred).
- Strong classroom management, organization, and communication skills.
- Commitment to Catholic education and support of the mission of Christ the King Catholic School.
