ERIE CATHOLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM (ECSS)
JOB TITLE: DIRECTOR OF CAMPUS MINISTRY
REPORTS TO: ECSS PRESIDENT
INDIRECT REPORTS TO: ECSS CHAPLAIN AND PRINCIPALS
POSITION STATUS: FULL TIME, NON-EXEMPT
Primary Purpose: The Director of Campus Ministry supports and strengthens the Catholic Identity of the ECSS by fostering faith formation, spiritual growth, and service among students, faculty, and staff. This role provides leadership in retreat programming, service coordination, and liturgical life across the school system, while working collaboratively with the school and system leadership, system chaplain, parish priests, and diocesan clergy to promote Gospel values within the ECSS community.
Required Qualifications:
· Practicing Roman Catholic.
· Degree in Theology or comparable degree/credentials.
· Deep personal faith and commitment to the mission, traditions, and values of the Diocese of Erie and ECSS.
· Experience teaching the Catholic Faith.
· Experience working with children and adolescents.
· Experience with retreat planning and service learning.
· Demonstrated adherence to the highest moral standards.
Responsibilities:
· Develop, administer, and evaluate comprehensive retreat programs for students, faculty, administrators, and staff that promote faith development, evangelization, and leadership formation.
· Collaborate with school and system leadership to plan and coordinate school system–wide liturgical and spiritual events, including but not limited to school Masses, Chapel Masses, Baccalaureate System-wide Mass(es), and Spiritual Journey Days for Erie Catholic administrators, faculty, and staff.
· Work closely with the system chaplain, parish priests, diocesan clergy, and women religious to plan and provide opportunities for prayer, sacramental celebrations, and other spiritual services across the school system.
· Coordinate with musical ministry personnel to select appropriate liturgical music that enhances student participation and enriches school liturgies and Eucharistic celebrations.
· Promote the mission and Catholic identity of the ECSS within the schools, parishes, and the broader community.
· Oversee the diocesan catechist certification program for teachers, ensuring compliance with diocesan guidelines, coordinating training sessions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting teachers in meeting certification requirements.
· Provide guidance and support to religion teachers to ensure instruction follows the diocesan curriculum standards.
· Evaluate, plan, organize, and lead service projects that embody Catholic social teaching and encourage active discipleship among students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
· Design and implement faith formation programs that integrate Gospel values across all five Erie Catholic schools.
· Attend and support Campus Ministry events as required.
· Assist school and system administration in the planning and implementation of activities for Catholic Schools Week.
· Assist school and system administration with administrators, faculty, and staff faith development programs and initiatives.
· Participate in formal monthly meetings with school and system administrators and the system chaplain. The format of the meetings will be at the discretion of the ECSS President.
· Maintain regular communication with school and system administration, the system chaplain, pastors, parish priests, parents, and students regarding Campus Ministry programs and activities.
· Oversee service hour requirements for middle school students.
· Develop an understanding of the various faith practices within each school.

Work Conditions:
· Required to work in multiple environments, including but not limited to a school, church, chapel, retreat venue, and/or Erie Catholic office setting.
· Required to work some evenings and weekends.
· Required travel among school campuses, parishes, and sites outside of the Erie area necessitates the incumbent to have a vehicle and valid driver’s license.
· Required to manage moderate to high levels of stress.
· All Erie Catholic positions require on-campus attendance; remote work and flexible scheduling options are not offered.
