Mathematics Instructor
Position Summary
The mathematics instructor is responsible for delivering rigorous, engaging mathematics instruction within a faith-based educational environment. This educator supports the intellectual, spiritual, moral, and emotional development of students, integrating Catholic values and teachings into daily classroom practice. The teacher collaborates with faculty, administration, and families to foster a culture of academic excellence and Christian discipleship.
Primary Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver standards-based instruction in mathematics
- Develop lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities
- Use data-driven practices to assess student progress and adjust instruction
- Incorporate technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance learning
- Prepare students for college readiness, standardized assessments, and real-world application of mathematical concepts
Catholic Identity & Mission
- Model and promote Catholic values in all interactions with students and the school community
- Integrate faith into the curriculum where appropriate
- Support the spiritual development of students through prayer, liturgy participation, and school faith activities
- Uphold and support the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church
Classroom Environment
- Establish and maintain a respectful, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
- Promote a culture of academic integrity, responsibility, and perseverance
- Effectively manage classroom behavior in alignment with school policies
Assessment & Communication
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events
Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and interdisciplinary initiatives
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school committees
- Support extracurricular activities, clubs, or coaching as needed
- Engage in ongoing professional growth and formation
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Education, or a related field
- Commitment to the mission of Catholic education
- Strong content knowledge in secondary mathematics
Preferred
- Master’s degree in mathematics, Education, or related field
- Previous high school teaching experience
- Valid state teaching certification (or ability to obtain)
- Familiarity with differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
- Practicing Catholic in good standing
