missional communities that form lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ. Through evangelization, relational discipleship, and leadership formation, SPO serves college students and young adults across the United States, helping them encounter Christ and live on mission in the Church and the world. Our missionaries and staff work together to cultivate vibrant communities where faith grows, leaders are formed, and the Gospel is shared. Creative communication plays an important role in telling the story of what God is doing through this mission.
The Opportunity:
In this role, the Junior Graphic Designer helps bring SPO’s mission to life through clear, creative, and impactful visual communication.
You will design print and digital materials that tell the story of what God is doing across SPO’s campuses, ensuring each piece reflects our charism values, brand voice, and mission-centered identity. As part of a collaborative, idea-driven creative team, you’ll work on campaigns, events, and initiatives that elevate SPO’s visual presence and strengthen our evangelization efforts.
This role provides hands-on experience in brand design, creative collaboration, and visual storytelling, while also growing in both professional skill and missionary identity.
Responsibilities:
Brand Design and Visual Communication
- Design clear and compelling visuals that communicate SPO’s mission and support evangelization, fundraising, and formation efforts.
- Ensure all creative work aligns with SPO’s brand guidelines, including visual identity, typography, color palette, and tone.
- Develop design assets for print and digital platforms including brochures, mailers, posters, social media graphics, event signage, and internal resources.
- Support the creation of materials for major events such as Fan Into Flame, missionary trainings, and benefit banquets.
- Execute creative briefs by producing professional-quality layouts that are visually dynamic and mission-centered.
- Use visual storytelling to communicate the mission effectively and consistently.
Digital Design and Campaign Support
- Collaborate on digital campaigns by creating graphics for social media, email communications, and website content.
- Design within Canva and Adobe Creative Suite, maintaining templates and shared assets for team-wide use.
- Partner with team members to ensure campaigns reflect SPO’s charisms, language, and tone.
- Contribute creative ideas during campaign planning and visual strategy discussions.
Brand Stewardship and Collaboration
- Help maintain a consistent and compelling visual identity for SPO while exploring creative opportunities for new initiatives and sub-brands.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining SPO’s digital asset library so past designs, images, and templates remain accessible.
- Provide basic brand and design guidance to staff, missionaries, and chapter leaders when needed.
- Collaborate with marketing and cross-departmental teams to support shared ministry goals.
Mission Partner Development (Personal Fundraising): As a missionary organization, SPO staff raise financial support for their role in the mission.
Responsibilities include:
- Inviting individuals and families to partner financially with the mission of SPO through Mission Partner Development (MPD).
- Building relationships with mission partners through regular communication such as newsletters and updates.
- Connecting mission partners to the broader SPO mission through events and opportunities for involvement.
Qualifications:
- Abides by the Catholic Church’s teachings on faith and morals, exemplifies standards of Christian conduct, and is committed to living SPO’s charism values.
- Passion for the mission of evangelization
- Experience with graphic design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Canva.
- Strong visual design skills, including layout, typography, and brand consistency.
- Ability to manage multiple creative projects and deadlines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Desire to grow professionally while serving in a missionary environment.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.
- Experience working with brand guidelines or nonprofit communications.
