Job Summary
St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Gildehaus, Missouri, is seeking qualified and faith‑centered Substitute Teachers to provide instructional continuity in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Substitute Teachers support the academic, spiritual, and social development of students while fostering a safe, respectful, and Christ‑centered learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide classroom instruction and supervision in accordance with lesson plans left by the regular teacher.
- Maintain a positive, organized, and respectful classroom environment consistent with school policies and Catholic values.
- Support student learning across academic subjects while adapting instruction as needed.
- Communicate clearly with students to ensure understanding of assignments and expectations.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, and other assigned duties.
- Enforce school rules and expectations in a fair and consistent manner.
- Report student progress, behavior, and any concerns to school administration as needed.
- Ensure the safety and well‑being of all students at all times.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; college coursework or degree preferred.
- Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred.
- Understanding of and respect for Catholic teachings, traditions, and values.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow lesson plans and adapt to various grade levels and subjects.
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible with scheduling needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout classrooms and school facilities.
- Ability to lift or move classroom materials as needed.
Additional Expectations
- Willingness to serve students with patience, compassion, and professionalism.
- Completion of required background checks and Safe Environment training in accordance with diocesan policies.
