The Custodian is responsible for overseeing and performing routine maintenance and cleaning of parish and school buildings and property. Custodians work as part of a team to ensure high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene are consistently maintained for staff and students throughout the school and parish facilities.
Custodians must be flexible and able to respond to specific and changing cleaning needs. They are expected to clean according to established standards and work schedules to provide thorough, reliable, and high-quality service to both the school and parish.
This is a 12-month position that reports directly to the Facilities Manager and works collaboratively with other facilities staff. Availability to respond to on-call emergencies is required.
Essential Functions
- Cleans Church, parish office, community spaces, and mission buildings.
- Sweeps, vacuums, mops, and waxes floors as needed.
- Washes walls and windows, removes dust and debris as needed.
- Select equipment and materials for cleaning, replenishes supplies in buildings as needed.
- Removes trash from inside the buildings and from the grounds.
- Performs minor maintenance tasks, such as replacing filters and bulbs.
Position Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid Maryland driver's license with no more than 3 points.
- Previous cleaning experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of safety standards for use of cleaning equipment and products preferred.
Range: $17.00 – 19.00, Hourly
