Job Summary
St. Joseph Cottleville is seeking a caring, dependable, and faith-filled Substitute Teacher to support our students and faculty when regular classroom teachers are absent. The Substitute Teacher provides a safe, welcoming, and positive learning environment while following the lesson plans and classroom routines established by the regular teacher.
The ideal candidate is flexible, responsible, and enthusiastic about working with students of varying ages and learning needs. The Substitute Teacher serves as a positive role model and supports the school's Catholic mission, values, and commitment to the academic, spiritual, and personal growth of every student.
Job Responsibilities
- Follow lesson plans and instructions provided by the regular classroom teacher.
- Provide engaging, age-appropriate instruction and learning activities.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and positive classroom environment.
- Supervise students throughout the school day, including classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, and other assigned duties.
- Establish and maintain appropriate classroom expectations and routines.
- Support students in completing assignments and participating appropriately in classroom activities.
- Use sound judgment when addressing student questions, needs, and behavior.
- Communicate any significant classroom or student concerns to the appropriate school personnel.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate records or notes regarding the day's activities, as requested.
- Respect student confidentiality and school policies at all times.
- Serve as a positive, professional role model for students.
- Support and uphold the Catholic identity, mission, and values
- Work cooperatively and professionally with faculty, staff, students, and families.
- Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.
Job Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred.
- Strong communication and classroom-management skills.
- Ability to follow lesson plans and adapt appropriately to changing classroom needs.
- Dependable, punctual, flexible, and professional.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
