Job Summary
The Liturgy and Falcon's Nest Music Teacher is responsible for leading the school's liturgical music ministry and providing music instruction within the Falcon's Nest program. This position fosters students' understanding and appreciation of music while supporting the spiritual life of the school through the planning and coordination of music for school liturgies, prayer services, and special events. The Liturgy and Falcon's Nest Music Teacher promotes student engagement, creativity, and faith formation in alignment with the mission of St. Louis Catholic Academy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Liturgy Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and lead music for school Masses, prayer services, liturgical celebrations, and special school events.
- Collaborate with administration, clergy, campus ministry personnel, and faculty to support the spiritual life of the school.
- Select age-appropriate sacred music that aligns with the liturgical calendar and Catholic traditions.
- Prepare and rehearse students for participation in liturgical celebrations.
- Encourage student involvement in music ministry and worship leadership.
- Maintain music resources and materials used for liturgical celebrations.
Falcon's Nest Music Program Responsibilities
- Provide engaging music instruction for students participating in the Falcon's Nest program.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate music activities that promote creativity, musical skills, and appreciation for the arts.
- Introduce students to various musical styles, instruments, rhythms, and vocal techniques.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and self-expression.
- Organize and direct student performances, showcases, or special music presentations as appropriate.
- Integrate music experiences that support students' social, emotional, and spiritual development.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and positive learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, and administration.
- Maintain appropriate records and documentation as required.
- Support and model Catholic values and Christian behavior in all interactions.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or school administration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music, Ministry, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Experience teaching music to children in a school, parish, or community setting preferred.
- Knowledge of Catholic liturgy and sacred music preferred.
- Strong vocal and/or instrumental music skills.
- Ability to engage and inspire students of varying ages and abilities.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of music instruction techniques and age-appropriate music education practices.
- Ability to lead and coordinate music for liturgical celebrations.
- Ability to direct student rehearsals and performances.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
