Job Summary
The Substitute Teacher provides classroom instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular teacher. In a Catholic school setting, the Substitute Teacher supports the academic program, maintains classroom routines and expectations, and promotes a safe, respectful, and faith-centered learning environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Follow lesson plans and instructions provided by the regular teacher.
- Provide instruction across assigned subjects and grade levels.
- Maintain classroom order and enforce school rules and policies.
- Create a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
- Take attendance and manage daily classroom routines.
- Adapt to different classrooms, subjects, and grade levels as assigned.
- Communicate relevant student behavior, academic, or classroom concerns to appropriate school staff.
- Supervise students during class, transitions, lunch, recess, dismissal, and other assigned activities.
- Support the Catholic identity and mission of the school, including participation in prayer and religious activities as appropriate.
Job Requirements
- Valid substitute teaching license or permit, as required by state or diocese.
- Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or supervisory setting preferred.
- Ability to follow lesson plans, maintain classroom expectations, and manage student behavior effectively.
- Strong communication, judgment, flexibility, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to supporting the Catholic mission and values of the school.
