Full Time (Includes evenings and some weekends)
Age groups: Middle School (Grades 6th-8th) and High School (Grades 9th-12th)
Report to: Pastor
Collaborates Closely With: Parish Director of Religious Education (DRE)
St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church seeks a dynamic, faith filled, and organized full time coordinator of youth ministry. The ideal candidate will help our current ministry thrive, fostering a vibrant missionary, disciple culture for middle and high school youth. Nourishing a deepening of their faith through prayer, sacraments, and scripture. Given our diverse parish community, bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish) is highly preferred to effectively engage families.
- Program Development & Spiritual Leadership
- Design and execute: Create weekly engaging youth group nights, retreats, spiritual formation for grades 6-12, and annual parish wide events.
- Community Outreach: collaborate ministry opportunities with local community.
- Sacrament Support: Collaborating with Parish DRE
- Liturgical Support: Encouraging youth participation in parish life including youth choir, lectoring, and altar serving.
- Diverse Outreach: Tailor ministry to be welcoming to our multi-cultural youth.
- Collaboration & Administration
- DRE Partnership: Meeting weekly with the DRE to align youth ministry with the overall Catechetical vision.
- Calendar Sync: Coordinating schedules through our parish office not to conflict with but assist in parish wide events.
- Diocesan Alignment: Attend Diocese of Knoxville youth meetings, training sessions, and conferences.
- Budgeting: Manage youth ministry budget, fundraising efforts, fee collections for trips or retreats.
- Volunteer & Leadership Cultivation
- Core Team: Recruit, screen, train, and mentor adult volunteers (Core Team) from both cultural communities.
- Compliance: Ensure all volunteers complete the Diocese of Knoxville Safe Environment Training Requirements.
- Youth Leadership: Develop peer-led youth leadership to empower high school students.
- Communication & Family Outreach
- Bilingual Communication: Provide all promotional materials, social media updates, and parent letters in both English and Spanish.
- Parent Partnership: Host parent meetings and provide resources to help parents form faith at home.
- Digital Presence: Maintain safe, professional, and compliant digital communication channels with youth and parents.
Qualifications And Requirements
- Faith Practice: Practicing Catholic in good standing. Demonstrating a deep love for Chirist and the Church.
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Youth Ministry, or a related field (or equivalent parish experience).
- Language: Bilingual proficiency highly preferred
- Experience: 2+ years of experience leading youth ministry or working with adolescents in a parish setting.
- Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication, conflict resolution, and collaborative skills.
- Compliance: Must pass a criminal background check and complete Diocesan Safe Environment Training before hiring.
