Sacred Heart Glyndon is seeking a Coordinator of Youth Ministry and Confirmation. The Coordinator of Youth Ministry & Confirmation will work collaboratively with the pastor and parish staff in implementing goals and developing the parish's vision for the middle school and high school-aged youth, with a primary focus on preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation. This is a full-time position with benefits.
Essential Functions
- Coordinates the Confirmation program, including: 1) obtaining teaching materials 2) volunteer recruiting and training 3)planning and execution of the confirmation retreat, and 4) development of all parent/sponsor communications.
- Ensures participants meet Archdiocesan Confirmation requirements and organizes the Confirmation Liturgy. Ensures that communication with the Archdiocese about Confirmation is managed promptly and that any necessary follow-up is completed on time.
- Coordinates and leads Middle School and High School Youth Ministry activities working towards achieving a minimum of 8-10 adult volunteers of various ages and cultural backgrounds. Ensures adult volunteers are present for each event to create a safe environment.
- Establishes and continually provides for the formation/training of adult and adolescent volunteers and collaborates with them to ensure the ongoing vitality of the Confirmation program and youth ministry.
- Works with youth in school for weekly faith activities, prayer groups, and sacramental preparation.
- Interacts with parents of young people as partners in their children's faith formation in Youth Ministry, the school, and religious education.
- Collaborates with other youth ministers and Archdiocesan staff on planning and implementing regional/diocese-wide activities.
- Communicates weekly with the Director of Faith Formation regarding the accomplishment of tasks/goals and asks for help as needed.
- Assists the Director of Faith Formation and Pastoral Associate for Hispanic Ministry with weekly Sunday Religious Education Program.
- Works with the Director of Faith Formation and other parish staff to perform other duties as assigned.
- Actively participates in the life of the parish, providing a visible witness to the meaning of living the faith to all parishioners.
Position Qualifications
- Practicing and devoted Catholic who is fully able to participate in the sacramental life of the church
- Bachelor's degree in theology, religious studies, pastoral ministry, or related field
- Youth Ministry Certification from Life Teen/the Franciscan University of Steubenville
- Three or more years of experience in providing faith formation or religious education to young people in a parish setting
- Excellent planning and organizational capabilities and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to direct and manage volunteers
- Ability to work on weekends and evenings
- Spanish language proficiency preferred
Pay Range: $39,000 - $49,000, Annualized
