The Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas is the Catholic Church in Northeast Kansas: Growing as Disciples of Jesus; Making Disciples for Jesus. The Chancery and Savior Pastoral Center are seeking a Custodian/Housekeeper to support both buildings. This role performs a variety of cleaning and custodial tasks to maintain clean, welcoming office and retreat environments. Duties include a variety of cleaning tasks, ensuring guest rooms are thoroughly cleaned and prepared in a timely manner, as well as general custodial services throughout the Chancery and Savior Pastoral Center facilities. This is a full-time, on-site position, averaging 40 hours per week – 3:30 am - noon, and benefits eligible.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Clean, dust, and vacuum hallways, bedrooms, bathrooms, meeting rooms, coffee bars, lounges, and offices.
- Keep supplies stocked such as paper hand towels, plastic cups and empties waste baskets.
- Collaborate with Pastoral Center Director to maintain a hospitable environment; sets out Welcome/Procedures sheets in rooms for guests.
- Notifies maintenance staff when items need repair, replacement, supplies are low or help is needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Good interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate with the public and staff.
- Ability to work with a team and take direction from supervisor.
- Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work and achieves results with little oversight.
- Ability to apply knowledge of general cleaning procedures to complete housekeeping tasks.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one (1) year of prior cleaning/housekeeping experience including knowledge of chemical solutions is preferred.
- Basic skill level in MS Office.
- Practicing Catholic in good standing is preferred.
