Job Summary
The Preschool Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing, faith-filled learning environment that supports the spiritual, academic, social, and emotional development of young children. This role integrates early childhood education with Catholic values and teachings.
Job Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons in literacy, math, science, and social skills
- Use play-based and hands-on learning strategies
- Adapt instruction to meet individual student needs
Faith Formation
- Incorporate Catholic teachings into daily lessons and activities
- Lead children in age-appropriate prayers (e.g., before meals, start/end of day)
- Teach Bible stories, Christian values, and basic religious concepts
- Model Christ-centered behavior, kindness, and respect
Classroom Management
- Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment
- Establish routines that support structure and positive behavior
- Supervise children during class, recess, and activities
Student Development
- Support social, emotional, and behavioral growth
- Encourage positive interactions and conflict resolution
- Observe and assess student progress
Communication
- Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians
- Provide updates on student progress and development
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences
Collaboration
- Work with school staff, administration, and parish community
- Participate in school events, liturgies, and professional development
Job Requirements
- Experience working with young children preferred
- Practicing Catholic preferred (or willingness to support Catholic mission)
- Knowledge of child development and early learning practices
- Patience, compassion, and enthusiasm for working with children
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Effective communication with children, parents, and staff
- Ability to integrate faith into daily instruction
- Creativity and flexibility
