The primary role of The Junior High Minister and Evangelization support staff member will work to foster the personal and spiritual growth of All Saints Youth (6th to 8th grade) and their families, drawing them into full and active participation in the Church’s life, mission, and work, and to prepare them to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. The lay minister will collaborate with the Evangelization department in the Family Formation program and youth evangelization team, maintaining a working relationship with all staff members, and is accountable to the community of All Saints.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position
• Plan, implement, and lead weekly fellowship, and formation, events for Junior High students
(e.g. Bible Study and IMPACT), and other significant youth ministry events and training as
needed.
• The Coordinator is responsible for forming youth through catechesis, retreats, service
opportunities, fellowship, and preparing 8th grade students to receive the sacrament of
Confirmation.
• Work with the Director of Evangelization and the Sacramental Coordinator to provide ministry
opportunities to students and their families in preparation for Confirmation, especially with
retreats.
• Recruit, train, form, and support Adult Mentors and Core Members for Junior High
Evangelization programs. All adults must be cleared through Diocesan VIRTUS training.
• Build authentic and healthy relationships with junior high students by mentoring and
supporting them in their personal faith journey and in parish community roles.
• Communicate with parish and school staff about families and youth participating as volunteers
for parish events.
• Weekly publicize events through various marketing and media, such as print, website, social
media, etc.
• Maintain a positive and visible presence at ASCS through weekly attendance at ASCS for
apologetics, guidance, or Confirmation prep.
• Help Plan and lead annual 8th grade retreat with ASCS staff and high school coordinator.
• The Coordinator of Junior High and Confirmation is accountable to the Director of
Evangelization, as well as the Pastor.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIREMENT:
• According to the Gospel message, candidates must be in full communion with the Catholic
Church and live with personal and professional integrity.
• Candidates must be passionate about positively impacting the lives of youth, young adults, and
families.
• Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree or Certificate in Youth Ministry.
• It is preferred that candidates have a minimum of 3 years working directly with middle school,
high school youth, Young Adults, or Families.
• Experience working with and supervising adults, experience managing a budget, and excellent
leadership and communication skills are also desired.
• Candidates must possess a working knowledge of computer and social media use, with
marketing and promotional material design a plus.
• As a member of the All Saints staff, each candidate must submit and pass a staff screening and
meet the diocesan VIRTUS Program requirements.
