Position Summary: Full-time w/Benefits, 40 hours per week, with some nights and weekends. The Coordinator of Youth Ministry at St. Thomas Aquinas is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive program for middle and high school students, fostering their spiritual, educational, and social development in accordance with Catholic teaching. This position involves collaborating with parish staff, volunteers, and families to create a vibrant ministry that inspires young people to deepen their relationship with Christ.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Development and Implementation:
● Continue to build and enhance the existing STA Young Catholics program under the direction of the Director of Ministries, ensuring it remains vibrant and aligned with Catholic teachings and value.
● Organize regular youth group meetings, retreats, service projects, and social events to engage young people in the life of the Church.
2. Faith Formation:
● Provide opportunities for spiritual growth through Bible studies, prayer groups, and sacramental preparation.
● Encourage participation in liturgical celebrations, such as Mass and the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
3. Leadership and Volunteer Management:
● Recruit, train, and support a team of volunteers to assist in delivering youth ministry programs.
● Develop leadership skills among youth participants, empowering them to take active roles in ministry and parish life.
4. Communication and Collaboration:
● Maintain effective communication with parents, parish staff, and the wider community regarding youth ministry activities and opportunities.
● Collaborate with other parish ministries and local Catholic organizations to create cohesive and supportive programs.
5. Administrative Duties:
● Manage the youth ministry budget, ensuring prudent use of resources.
● Maintain records of attendance, participation, and program outcomes for reporting and evaluation.
6. Outreach and Engagement:
● Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for all youth, regardless of background or level of faith engagement.
● Reach out to unchurched or disengaged youth, inviting them to participate in parish life and ministry.
Qualifications:
● Practicing Catholic in good standing with a deep commitment to the teachings and values of the Catholic Church.
● Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Education, or a related field is preferred.
● Experience in youth ministry, religious education, or a related field.
● Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
● Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
● Proficiency in using social media and technology to engage with youth.
● Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
