POSITION SUMMARY
St. Joseph Catholic Church seeks a practicing Catholic who is organized, dependable, and service-oriented to serve as a Family Faith Formation Assistant.
This role supports the mission of the parish by helping create environments where children and families can encounter Christ through well-prepared, welcoming, and thoughtfully organized faith formation experiences. Working behind the scenes and in collaboration with staff and volunteers, this position plays a vital role in ensuring that all sessions and events are prepared with excellence and care.
The ideal candidate takes pride in organization and preparation, demonstrates a strong work ethic, and approaches their work with a spirit of service, recognizing that even the smallest details contribute to the larger mission of forming disciples.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Practicing Catholic in good standing with a love for the Church and her mission
High school diploma required; some college or ministry experience preferred
Strong organizational and administrative skills
Detail-oriented and highly reliable
Able to anticipate needs and follow through without constant supervision
Comfortable working behind the scenes in a support role
Able to lift, move, and organize supplies (up to ~25 lbs)
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
Meets all Parish and Diocesan Safe Environment requirements
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Preparation & Logistics
Prepare all materials and supplies for weekly Family Faith Formation sessions
Organize classrooms and meeting spaces prior to sessions
Maintain inventory of supplies and assist with restocking as needed
Ensure all environments are welcoming, functional, and ready for families
Assist in setup and breakdown for on-campus sessions and events
Collaboration & Apprenticeship
Work closely with senior volunteer leadership to learn systems, storage, and processes
Assist in maintaining efficient workflows for ministry preparation
Develop familiarity with supply locations, storage systems, and parish facilities
Grow into increased responsibility for anticipating ministry needs
Session & Event Support
Be present during Sunday, weekday, and occasional evening sessions to support operations
Assist with hospitality, check-in support, and troubleshooting during sessions
Support parish events and retreats (including limited Saturdays throughout the year)
Administrative Support
Assist with light administrative tasks related to Family Faith Formation
Help maintain organized ministry spaces and storage areas
Support communication preparation (materials, handouts, etc.)
Schedule Expectations (Approx. 15-20 hrs/week)
Sundays: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Mondays: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Wednesdays: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Thursdays: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Additional: 3–4 Saturdays per year (retreats/events)
