St. John the Evangelist Catholic School, located in Hydes, MD is seeking a qualified, full-time Teacher’s Aide for Pre-K for the 2026–2027 academic school year.
A Preschool Teacher’s Aide supports the lead teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children. The aide assists with classroom activities, supervises children, and helps promote social, emotional, and educational development while reinforcing faith-based principles.
Essential Functions
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and classroom activities ·
- Supervise children during playtime, meals, nap time, and outdoor activities
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
- Support children’s social and emotional development through positive guidance and Catholic values
- Prepare and set up learning materials, crafts, and activities
- Help children with basic needs
- Monitor children’s behavior and report concerns to the lead teacher
- Assist with record-keeping and documentation as needed
- Communicate respectfully with children, staff, and parents
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Model and encourage Catholic values such as kindness, respect, compassion, and gratitude
- Assist in simple prayers, religious activities, and age-appropriate faith formation
- Help foster a classroom environment rooted in Christian love and moral development
Position Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow instructions and take initiative
- Basic organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy classroom environment
- Experience in a Catholic School setting preferred.
- Coursework in early childhood education (preferred)
- Previous experience working with young children (preferred)
- CPR and First Aid certification (may be required or obtained after hire)
- Willingness to support the mission of the Catholic faith and the Archdiocese of Baltimore Catholic Schools
Pay Range: $17.00 - $19.00, Hourly
