JOB TITLE: Kitchen Assistant

JOB SUMMARY:
stant is responsible for assisting our Lead Cook with the facilitation of food services offered at
Camp Abbey Retreat Center. The assistant will also be responsible for attending to retreatant
needs, sanitation duties, dish washing, ware washing, equipment cleaning, janitorial tasks, and
other assigned duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Implements the archdiocese's mission and philosophy as it relates to the goals of Camp Abbey.
• Maintains a professional, compassionate, and welcoming attitude toward staff, volunteers, and guests.
• Follows directives of the Lead Cook regarding assignments and specific duties.
• Must be able to help prepare and serve meals for up to 300 people.
• Lifts and moves supplies aiding in restocking and distributing of food service supply deliveries.
• Prepares and set up steam table and serving line.
• Assists retreatants as needed during meal times and is available for any questions or concerns.
• Maintains adequate food and beverage station levels and reports low items to Lead Cook.
• Assists in the upkeep, cleanliness and neatness of the kitchen, dining room, and pantry areas.
• Follows proper food handling procedures and maintains sanitary dining conditions.
• Performs evening kitchen closing duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Experience working in the food service industry
• Knowledge of Parish/State/Federal food regulations
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, ministry-oriented environment
• Flexibility in hours and ability to work on weekends
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
• Experience in the food service industry
• ServSafe Foodservice certification preferred but can be acquired upon hire.
