Middle School Youth Minister to lead, inspire, and walk alongside students in Grades 6–12 as they grow in faith, community, and discipleship.
This pivotal role creates meaningful experiences where teens encounter God, feel known and valued, and are empowered to live as joyful Catholic Christians.
The Youth Minister develops and leads comprehensive faith formation and community-building programming for middle and high school youth, rooted in the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and guided by the
USCCB’s Renewing the Vision and
Listen, Teach, Send frameworks.
You will work closely with parish staff, volunteers, parents, and youth to cultivate a vibrant, welcoming, and Christ-centered youth ministry.
Middle School Ministry
- Develop, organize, and implement: BLAZE (Grades 6–7) and ASCEND (Grade 8) faith formation programs.
- Lead parish participation in Extreme Faith Camp, including promotion, fundraising, volunteer recruitment, and planning support.
- Plan and run:
- Monthly Charge Nights (prayer + social nights)
- Summer Blast events and other middle school offerings.
- Organize and promote the Prayer Corps Program, pairing parish prayer volunteers with youth for year-long intentional prayer.
Confirmation & High School Ministry (Grades 9–12)
- Collaborate with the High School Youth Minister to design and implement a one-year Confirmation program aligned with Parish and Archdiocesan guidelines.
Program Leadership & Administration
- Recruit, train, and lead core teams of youth and adults.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and chaperones.
- Create a comprehensive youth ministry calendar and coordinate with the parish-wide Faith Formation calendar.
- Schedule and manage facilities, adhering to parish procedures and timelines.
- Communicate clearly and consistently.
- Ensure full compliance with Office for the Protection of Children and Youth (OPCY) requirements.
- Manage and maintain an approved youth ministry budget.
Relational Ministry & Collaboration
- Serve as a consistent advocate and pastoral presence for youth.
- Build meaningful relationships with youth from both public and private schools.
- Help youth articulate and live out their Catholic beliefs.
- Collaborate with parish and school staff to support holistic youth formation.
- Partner with neighboring parishes to share resources, plan joint events, retreats, service projects, and mission opportunities.
Parish Life & Teamwork
- Take a leadership role in Vacation Bible School (VBS) planning and execution.
- Collaborate with Faith Formation staff to support ministry for all ages, including:
- Family formation events (GIFT nights, pancake breakfasts, etc.)
- Participate in parish-wide fundraising and formation efforts.
- Support effective use of parish technology, databases, and communication tools.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality in all parish and ministry matters.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and ministry networks
The starting pay range for this position is $25.00-$27.00 per hour depending upon years of experience. This position offers medical and dental insurance, 403b retirement, paid time off, and other elective benefits as chosen by employee.
