Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive art lesson plans that integrate curriculum development principles and cater to diverse learning styles.
- Foster a positive classroom atmosphere through effective classroom management and behavior management strategies, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all students.
- Incorporate learning technology and digital tools into art projects to enhance student engagement and digital literacy.
- Mentor students in their artistic pursuits, providing constructive feedback, encouragement, and support tailored to individual needs, including working with children with autism or those requiring early intervention.
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects, school events, and extracurricular activities such as art exhibitions or community outreach programs.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing where applicable, and maintain detailed records of student achievements.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to early childhood education, childhood development, Montessori methods, or special education to continually refine teaching practices.
Requirements
- Proven classroom experience as an elementary school teacher with a focus on art education or related fields.
- Strong knowledge of literacy education, math integration in arts, and teaching physical education components when relevant.
- Excellent communication skills for working with students, parents, colleagues, and administration.
- Demonstrated ability in lesson planning, curriculum development, and writing skills necessary for documentation and reporting.
- Experience with learning technology tools such as digital art platforms or educational software is preferred.
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques and classroom management strategies to maintain an engaging learning environment.
- Prior private school experience or familiarity with Montessori or other alternative educational philosophies is advantageous.
- Knowledge of working with individuals with autism or special needs enhances your ability to support all learners effectively.
