Position Summary:
The Director of Adult Discipleship provides executive leadership for the Department of Adult Discipleship, operating in service of the Archbishop and the Archdiocese. This role is instrumental in translating the Archbishop’s pastoral vision into actionable strategies for Adult Discipleship.
The primary objective of this department is to equip parishes, focusing on key ministerial areas: Small Groups (PECS), Missionary Discipleship Formation, relational evangelization aspects of OCIA, Men’s and Women’s Ministries, and other adult ministries. The Director ensures all initiatives are strategically aligned, financially sound, and effectively communicated to foster vibrant parish life and relational evangelization.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
This position requires strategic leadership in the following core areas:
- Execute Strategic Planning and Direction: Develop long term goals and actionable forward-thinking strategies on best practices for Discipleship and Evangelization Priorities, Relational Evangelization, Synod Implementation, Small Group Formation, relational evangelization aspects of OCIA, and Men’s and Women’s Ministries.
- Development and Organizational Growth: Provide executive leadership and direction, including restructuring, for the Department of Adult Discipleship to improve and expand upon these sections within the Archdiocese.
- Strategic Discernment, Decision-Making, & Implementation: Collaborate with the Executive Director to analyze, evaluate, discern, and implement strategic plans that effectively prepare, strengthen, and support the aforementioned ministries across the Archdiocese.
- Visionary Leadership: Articulate a strategic vision and supervise the execution of key Archdiocesan events and initiatives, including but not limited to:
- Parish Leadership Days
- ACC Days of Reflection
- Small Group Leader Trainings
- Partners in Missionary Discipleship Gathering
- Archdiocesan Men’s Conference
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Mentor, lead, and develop the performance of the central office staff serving these critical ministry areas.
- Inter-Departmental Collaboration: Work in close partnership with the Director of Marriage, Family, and Life, and the Director of Youth and Young Adult Discipleship to unify efforts.
- Project Management & Execution: Collaborate with other offices to develop and execute timelines, ensuring the effective, high-quality implementation of the Archbishop’s vision.
- Financial Stewardship & Fundraising Partnership: Direct all budget development and ongoing financial management for the department. Partner closely with the Office of Mission Advancement to assist fundraising strategies (e.g., Catholic Services Appeal) and ensure funds are deployed effectively to meet the Archbishop’s vision.
- External Relations & Communication: Build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external partners. Communicate regularly with constituents to ensure alignment and awareness of office initiatives.
- General Executive Support: Assist the Archbishop, Bishops, and Executive Director with other duties as requested.
