General Summary of the Position
In this role, the Janitorial Worker ensures the readiness and cleanliness of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Parish, including the school. The position directly reports to the Facilities Director. Core work hours are Tuesday through Friday, 7:30 am through 4:30 pm, and Saturday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with a daily, one-hour lunch. However, exceptions are made to facilitate the coverage of the weekends since this is a Church with activities ongoing through the weekend. Any work which requires overtime must be coordinated and approved by the Facilities Director. Working overtime hours without approval is grounds for disciplinary actions that may be documented in the records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position
The St. Mark campus consist of the school, pre-school, Church, rectory, Pastoral Center, rental properties on Brentwood Drive, Columbarium and the parish center. These facilities require the same type of care and duties. While the job details listed below are general in nature, they may be adjusted depending on situations that arise. Duties of a Janitorial Worker consist of but are not limited to:
- Cleaning restrooms and restocking, as necessary
- Dust mopping and wet mopping floors
- Vacuuming carpets/rugs
- Emptying Trash (indoors and outdoors)
- Setting up events that take place on the campus (Putting up chairs and tables)
- Cleaning glass windows and doors
- Clean up trash in outside area of the campus
- Conducting repairs on non-technical items or items that are considered routine
- Monitoring and clearing drains in the breezeway of the Church during times of heavy rain
- Locking and unlocking Columbarium
- Placing and removing cones for Sunday parking
Position Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of cleaning, maintenance, and emergency janitorial situations
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual (preferred)
- Experience with floor cleaning/polishing machines (preferred)
