Saint George is a faith-filled, joyous community of believers, seeking to develop each baptized person as a missionary disciple. The Children’s Faith Formation program is small (approximately 110 participants) but vital to our mission. The Director of Children’s Faith Formation at Saint George must be a person of faith, finding meaning and joy in a deep relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to serve His People. The nature of the position demands a personal presence and a generous heart. The job description is wide-ranging and fluid. Working closely with the pastor, clergy and other staff members. The Director will be in contact with students and families as an evangelizer. The Director of CFF is under the direct supervision of the Director of Life-Long Formation. Virtus compliance is mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Children’s Faith Formation.
- Responsibility for all aspects of the Children’s Faith Formation.
- Recruiting and forming catechists.
- Organizing class schedules.
- Supervising enrollment.
- Collect Tuition and related issues.
- Clear and regular communication with families.
- Making sure sacramental records are up to date.
- Offering sessions for family members of the students.
- Ordering supplies.
- Seek new methods and implement ways to regularly engage parents and families in faith formation (including hospitality, prayer, learning, and service opportunities).
- Identify, form, and support spiritual growth of catechists and volunteers.
- Direct and support catechists and volunteers in lesson plan development to ensure programs achieve overall goals, objectives and vision for strong lifelong formation in parish.
- Train and supervise volunteers to ensure that formation strategies and materials comply with Church teachings, align with Archdiocese of Chicago policies, and are age and culturally appropriate.
- Coordinate sacraments programs for children.
- Coordinate and prepare monthly Sunday class Masses.
- Ensure that all sacraments received through the Children’s Faith Formation program are properly recorded.
- Collaborate with the Principal of Saint George School to resource and assist with the faith formation of the school children and their families.
- Ensure that ministry complies with the guidelines for Protecting God’s Children; for those who minister children in accordance with the Archdiocese of Chicago policies.
- Maintain membership in professional ministerial organizations and seek opportunities to grow personally, spiritually, and intellectually.
- Collaborate with neighboring parishes in area efforts related to Children’s Faith Formation.
Children’s Faith Formation sessions currently take place on Wednesdays during the regular school year. Vacation Bible School and other faith opportunities are offered. The Director of the Children’s Faith Formation shares an administrative assistant with the Director of Life-Long Formation.

This position has an annualized salary range of - $20,000.00 - $30,000.00 per year. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
