Job Summary
St. Gertrude Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 5th Grade Teacher to join our faith‑filled learning community. The 5th Grade Teacher is responsible for providing high‑quality instruction that supports students’ academic growth, spiritual development, and personal responsibility while fostering a safe, engaging, and Christ‑centered classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards‑based instruction across core subject areas in alignment with diocesan and school curriculum guidelines.
- Integrate Catholic teachings, values, and traditions into daily instruction and classroom life.
- Create a positive classroom environment that supports respectful behavior, responsibility, and student growth.
- Assess student learning through formative and summative evaluations and communicate progress regularly with students and families.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance.
- Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration to support student success and school initiatives.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with parents and guardians.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, liturgies, and school events.
- Support and uphold school policies, procedures, and the mission of Catholic education.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required.
- Valid teaching certification preferred (or ability to obtain per diocesan requirements).
- Experience teaching at the elementary or upper‑elementary level preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to academic excellence and student‑centered learning.
- Practicing Catholic preferred; must be respectful and supportive of Catholic beliefs and practices.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom and school campus for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and manage classroom materials as needed.
Additional Expectations
- Willingness to participate actively in the spiritual life of the school community.
- Completion of required background checks and Safe Environment training in accordance with diocesan and school policies.
