Job Summary:
The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator supports the growth, retention, and recognition of volunteers across the organization. This role learns and supports all aspects of the Volunteer Engagement Office, strengthens partnerships with Vincentians to support recruitment, engages Catholic elementary and high schools in meaningful service experiences, and collaborates with all program areas to align volunteer capacity with program needs. The Coordinator also plans and executes volunteer appreciation initiatives that reflect our mission and values.
Job Responsibilities:
At the direction of the Director of Volunteer Engagement:
Volunteer Operations & Office Support (Learning All Aspects)
Learn and support end-to-end volunteer engagement workflows (inquiry onboarding placement retention
- appreciation), maintain accurate volunteer records, schedules, and communications in the volunteer management system, assist with volunteer orientation materials, safety training, and role descriptions; ensure compliance with safe environment and organizational policies, provide excellent customer service by responding to volunteer inquiries and assisting with placements.
Volunteer Appreciation & Retention
- Assist the Director of Volunteer Engagement with the planning and execution of volunteer appreciation events and recognition efforts (e.g., annual appreciation event, milestone awards, spotlights/newsletters).
- Gather and act on volunteer feedback; implement retention strategies and recognition best practices.
Be an Ambassador for SVdP, participating in and serving as a model for SVdP.
- Provide tours, be familiar with and share with volunteers the many ways they can get involved in being a part of the SVdP family.
- Attend community events and tabling opportunities as needed.
Community Engagement Partnership & Recruitment
- Catholic Schools Engagement (Elementary & High School)
- Build relationships with administrators, campus ministers, service coordinators, and teachers at Catholic schools.
- Create age-appropriate, mission-aligned service opportunities (on-site and off-site) with clear learning outcomes and risk management considerations.
- Coordinate school group service days, speakers, reflections, and follow-up communications.
Vincentian Partnership & Recruitment
- Partner with the Vincentian Engagement Support Services team to:
- Identify conference-based volunteer needs and coordinate recruitment activities (e.g., parish drives, ministry fairs, announcements).
- Assist with toolkits and talking points; gather feedback to improve outreach and retention.
Participate as an active, supportive, and engaged Mission Engagement Team member.
- Contribute to a healthy, collaborative, communicative team environment.
- Engage team members in joint problem solving.
- Offer help to team members when able; ask for help when needed.
- Performs any other duties assigned by Director of Volunteer Engagement
- Willing to work some early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Ensure SVdP volunteers feel welcomed and appreciated*

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Commitment to & passion for the organization’s faith-inspired mission of serving
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills both written and oral
- Comfort with technology; high computer literacy
- Flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs of the organization and community
- Superb customer service, patient, open, non-judgmental, interest in working with individuals with a variety of backgrounds and experiences
- Can both take initiative and accept direction
- English/Spanish bilingual preferred
Education and Experience:
- Associates Degree from accredited college
- 1+ years’ experience working with volunteers OR in person customer service
- OFE training (completed in first 6 months of hire)
Physical Requirements:
- Able to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach and lift up to 20 pounds
- Travel on a regular basis in state as required
- Must have valid driver’s license and clean 39-month MVR and be able to be put on SVdP company vehicle insurance or own reliable transportation
