Position Description
POSITION TITLE: 1st Grade Teacher
REPORTS TO: James Laville - Principal
POSITION STATUS: Full Time, Contract Teacher
Job Purpose / OverviewThe 1st Grade Teacher is responsible for providing a nurturing, faith-filled learning environment that supports the spiritual, academic, social, and emotional development of young learners. The teacher integrates Catholic values and teachings throughout the curriculum while fostering a love of learning and respect for others.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities / Duties
-Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction in all core subject areas
-Integrate Catholic teachings, prayer, and values into daily classroom instruction
-Prepare students for foundational faith milestones (as appropriate, e.g., sacramental awareness)
-Create a safe, structured, and caring classroom environment-Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of young learners
-Use a variety of assessment strategies to monitor and support student progress
-Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student growth and development
-Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and administration to support student success
- Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, professional development, and faculty meetings
Required Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
- Valid teaching certification (or eligibility/willingness to obtain)
- Practicing Catholic in good standing preferred- Knowledge of early childhood development and instructional best practices
- Strong classroom management and organizational skillspreferred
