Learning Support Coordinator
Middle School (Grades 6–8)
Reports to: Principal
FLSA Status: Exempt (Full-Time)
Position Summary
The Learning Support Coordinator & Interventionist serves students in grades 6–8 by overseeing academic intervention, coordinating support services, and implementing structured learning strategies that promote student growth within a Catholic educational environment.
This role ensures that students with diverse learning needs receive appropriate instructional support, progress monitoring, and collaboration between faculty and families, while upholding the mission and values of Catholic education.

Primary Responsibilities1. Academic Intervention & Student Support
- Provide targeted small-group and individual academic interventions in reading, writing, and/or mathematics
- Implement research-based instructional strategies aligned with curriculum standards
- Support students with documented learning plans (accommodation, modifications, service plans)
- Assist classroom teachers with differentiated instruction strategies
- Coordinate Tier 2 and Tier 3 support within a structured intervention framework (MTSS/RTI model)
- Review psychoeducational evaluations and outside professional recommendations
- Develop and monitor student accommodation plans
- Ensure appropriate implementation of classroom accommodation
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and interventions
- Conduct progress monitoring and communicate data to administration and parents
Collaboration & Faculty Support
- Serve as a resource to middle school faculty regarding instructional strategies
- Lead professional development on differentiation and intervention best practices
- Participate in student support meetings and academic review conferences
- Partner with school counselors, administrators, and parents
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain confidential student records
- Ensure learning support services align with diocesan and school policies
- Monitor service delivery and documentation for accuracy and timeliness
- Assist administration in reviewing policies related to student support services
Family Communication
- Meet with parents to discuss student progress and support plans
- Provide guidance on home support strategies
- Serve as liaison between families and outside service providers when appropriate
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in special education, Education, or related field
- Valid teaching certification in SC Preferred
- Minimum 1 year of classroom or intervention experience
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and intervention strategies
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in special education or related field
- Experience in middle school (Grades 6–8)
- Familiarity with MTSS/RTI frameworks
- Experience reviewing psychoeducational evaluations

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: The requirements described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, and telephones. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook and Excel. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Valid driver’s license required. This position involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, using hands and feet, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching above shoulders. Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds to transport files or materials. Experience in SharePoint for collaboration and document management is preferred but not required.
