Job Description:
Loyola Sacred Heart High School is seeking an Athletic Director for the 2026-27 school year. This leadership position entails a high level of commitment to our students and community so everyone can live the mission of our school. The Loyola Sacred Heart Athletic Director is responsible for the culture, vision, and direction of all co-curricular programs as well as overseeing all sport programs, projects, budgets, and facilities relating to the Athletic Department. The Athletic and Activities Director will coordinate all activities for Loyola Sacred Heart students. He/she is responsible for communication to all school stakeholders including the administration, staff, teachers, parents, and students. He/she will maintain and develop activities and athletic programs that promote and develop Catholic sportsmanship and promote the mission of the Loyola Sacred Heart. This a year round position that will work directly with the Loyola Sacred Heart principal.

Specific Responsibilities:

● Foster a culture aligned with the Catholic values and commitment to excellence Catholic/Jesuit Mission Spiritual Leadership.
● Support the ongoing development of coaches in both their co curriculum activity and Catholic values.
● Ensure the inclusion of pre-game prayer, team mass, and mass when traveling as part of LSH activities.
● Monitor and guide the actions of LSH activity programs so that they are consistent with Catholic values and Diocesan policy including Virtus training/compliance.
Administrative Responsibilities:
● Performing consistent grade checks to ensure students are meeting the required academic criteria and remain on track to meet the Grad at Grad.
● Coordinate, plan, and ensure supervision of all co-curricular events.
● Provide regular budget updates, attend finance meetings when needed, and work with the administration to forecast and maintain a balanced co-curricular budget.
● Organize regular alumni and community events that will help to generate revenue for the athletic program.
● Manage all student information systems include FACTS and Arbiter.
Athletic Program Administrative Responsibilities:
● Ensure that coaches are well integrated into the life of the school and are collaborating with those responsible for academics, admissions, and counseling.
● Have a strong knowledge of MHSA and Title IX compliance.
● Ensure supervision of all athletic events.
● Develop schedules of all athletic events.
● Schedule transportation for sporting events.
● Hire referees, trainer, and emergency services for athletic contests.
● Represent LSH at school, fundraising, and public events as requested.
● Regulate and monitor appropriate use of the facilities and rentals.
● Maintain inventory of all Athletic Department equipment
● Assume other administrative duties as requested.
● Administer all interscholastic policies and procedures while monitoring compliance.
● Provide leadership in overall program development.
● Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards.
● Coordinate athletic banquets and awards.
● Coordinate and observe parent night presentations.
● Encourage professional growth for coaching personnel.
● Schedule all athletic activities in coordination with the school calendar.
● Develop collegiate level relationships for post-secondary success of student athletes.
● Serve as a visible presence of school leadership in the school and at school functions
Communication Responsibilities:
● Act as a liaison for the school at community events.
● Provide sports information for the school newsletter, announcements, website and media.
● Publish sports schedules, programs and eligibility lists.
● Ensure compliance with school guidelines.
● Facilitate communication between administration, parents, athletes, and coaches.
● Mediate athletic problems/concerns between parents, athletes, and coaches.
● Apprise the principal of specific situations involving athletic issues.
● Coordinate college coaching visits.
● Coordinate use of outside facilities and maintain good relationship with these facilities.
Fiscal Responsibilities:
● Prepare annual budget for all athletics and work within approved budget.
● Effectively collect and submit purchase orders to the business office on time.
● Monitor adherence of monthly budget-to-actual and explain variances.
● Coordinate and monitor athletic fundraising activities and rentals.
● Conduct budget analysis and make recommendations.
● Create and monitor uniform inventory procedures.
● Collect, record, and deposit all pre-sale and gate receipts for all athletic events in the business office.
● Work with boosters, the MCS Foundation, and raise awareness of all events.
Personnel Responsibilities:
● In conjunction with school leadership, maintain fair and transparent systems for hiring, retaining, and replacing coaches who embrace and integrate Catholic and Ignatian values in their programs.
● Observe and evaluate coaches including end-of-season evaluation.
● Conduct regular performance reviews in terms of program management, student athlete development, and effective coaching methods.
● Conduct pre-season coach orientation meetings.
● Ensure inventory of supplies and equipment.
● Monitor compliance with all team regulations.
● Ensure compliance with all health, coaching, Diocesan, and safety standards.
● Coordinate the interview/hiring process of all coaches, trainers, managers, scorers and timers.
● Ensure compliance with all employment requirements.
Salary is based on experience and education.
