The Director of Faith Formation will report to the Pastor and will oversee the faith formation ministries of the parish for children and teens in the parish religious education program, as well as coordinate the RCIA and oversee and develop Faith Formation opportunities for adults.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with the Administrator/Pastor to vision, coordinate, and oversee parish faith formation ministries and programs
- Direct parish Sunday morning religious education program for students in grades 1-8, including children preparing to receive their sacraments (parish and Catholic school), and work with and oversee volunteer catechists
- Oversee the Archdiocesan Religion Curriculum for students in grades 1-8
- Oversee religious education registration, record-keeping, including recording sacraments in the parish sacramental register, and calendar planning
- Recruit, train, and oversee the ongoing formation of catechists, including volunteer clearance requirements as outlined in the ADW Child Protection Policy
- Support parish Vacation Bible School program, working with volunteers (if applicable)
- Support volunteer OCIA program coordinators
- Recruit OCIA participants and oversee registration, record-keeping including recording sacraments in the sacramental register, and calendar planning for OCIA activities
- Prepare budgets for parish faith formation activities.
- Offer guidance, accompaniment and spiritual direction to parents, catechists or ministers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Practicing Catholic in good standing who loves the Roman Catholic faith and desires to share the faith with others
- Ability to supervise volunteers, make collaborative decisions with Administrator/Pastor, take direction and anticipate needs of the parish
- Strong computer skills, excellent communication skills, and willingness, ability, and creativity to learn and develop new programs
- Ability and willingness to work Sundays and occasional evenings and weekends
Education and Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Religious Education, Theology or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Experience in leading programs and working collaboratively with others including parish staff and volunteers
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
The salary range for this role is $65,000 to $75,000 depending on experience
