Our Lady Queen of Peace Childcare, located in Middle River, Maryland, seeks candidates for a Substitute Childcare Teacher. The Substitute Childcare Teacher will be accountable for the care and supervision of children. Their primary responsibilities are the safety and well-being of children in their care, but they also provide some instruction or educational support. The weekly hours are 19 and the schedule will be on an as-needed basis.
Essential Functions
- Actively supervise the children at all times
- Develop lesson plans and activities
- Implement lesson plans and activities
- Engage each child as an individual and offer specialized help if needed
- Making sure all supplies needed to complete their lesson are available
- Use a variety of teaching methods
- Stories, videos, and art projects that correlate.
- Indoor/outdoor playtime
- Prepare art
- Provide care for the children
- making sure basic needs are met
- helping with the bathroom and hygiene
- providing physical as well as educational activities
- meeting the emotional needs of each child
- Evaluate children’s performance and communicate findings with director and parents
- Keeping the classroom clean and organized
- Tables and toys are sanitized
- Floors are clean
- Carpets are clean and injury free
- Keep attendance records daily
- Qualified teachers may have to administer medication to the children
Position Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- 90-hour preschool certificate
- ADA Certification
- 9 Hour Communication Class
- Basic Health and Safety Certification
