General Summary of the Position
St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church is seeking a dependable and mission-driven Part-Time Lead Assistant Manager to support the daily operations of Gubbio’s Coffee & More, a parish-affiliated café operating under the direction of the Pastor and Senior Director of Operations.
The Lead Assistant Manager plays a key leadership role by supporting the Café Manager, helping ensure smooth day-to-day operations, and providing guidance to volunteers and staff. This individual will assist with scheduling, oversee café operations during assigned shifts, and help foster a welcoming environment that reflects the mission and values of St. Francis of Assisi.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position
Qualifications & Expectations:
● Prior experience in a café, coffee shop, or customer-service leadership role strongly preferred
● Ability to take direction well and work collaboratively with management and volunteers
● Strong organizational and communication skills
● Flexibility to meet the café’s operational needs, including evenings and Sundays
● Ability to work civic holidays and select Holy Days of Obligation, as required by café operations.
● Willingness to support and represent the mission of St. Francis of Assisi
Overall Responsibilities:
● The Gubbio’s Lead Assistant Manager actively supports the daily operations of the coffee shop, including but not limited to operating the point-of-sale system, preparing beverages, maintaining cleanliness of equipment and work areas, conducting inventory, ordering supplies, and carrying out duties as assigned by the Café Manager.
● Assists with end-of-day procedures by accurately balancing the cash drawer and completing required financial reports in accordance with money-handling and reporting guidelines established by the Parish Finance Office.
● Serves as a positive role model and on-site leader for volunteer baristas, promoting a welcoming, respectful, and service-oriented environment.
● Supports the Café Manager by training volunteers and assistant managers in café operations, customer service standards, safety procedures, and proper use of equipment.
● Maintains compliance with Safe Environment requirements and ensures that all volunteers and staff working in Gubbio’s Coffee & More meet and follow those requirements.
● Complete all other duties as assigned by Pastor or Supervisor.

● Availability to work weekend and evening shifts, with a regular commitment of 25–29 hours per week.
● Knowledge of food safety standards, with the ability to uphold and enforce proper food-handling procedures among volunteers and staff.

● Must be a Catholic in good standing.
Special Requirements:
● This position requires availability for evening and/or weekend shifts. Applicants must be able to work a shift between 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.; those unable to meet this requirement should not apply.
● The selected candidate must successfully complete a manager-level food safety certification to comply with city health inspection requirements.
● Spanish Language (conversational) preferred.
