Position Summary
The Director of Curriculum & Instruction is a key member of Department of Catholic Schools, assisting the Superintendent in monitoring, supporting, and evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of all diocesan schools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Curriculum Leadership: Provide guidance for principals and teachers in the areas of curriculum and instruction to maximize student achievement and school effectiveness; research educational trends; and assist principals in local curriculum development and assessment of diocesan curriculum needs.
· Instructional Support: Provide direct instructional assistance and guidance to teachers and principals
· Assessment & Data Analysis: Oversee the standardized testing programs (PK-12), analyze results at the Diocesan level, and assist schools in effectively using data to improve instruction and learning.
· Professional Development: Plan and coordinate teacher in-services, staff development activities for principals in curricular areas, and assist in the orientation of new principals and teachers.
· Teacher Certification and Professional Growth: Oversees the certification process for school personnel, the Teacher Growth Model process, and the Teacher Mentoring program.
· Administrative & Collaborative Tasks: Assist the Superintendent in developing and implementing goals, participating in various projects, programs, and committees to continuously improve all schools in the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston.
Qualifications and Requirements
· Education: Master’s Degree (MA) in Education or a related field.
· Experience: Five (5) years of experience as a teacher and/or principal.
· Skills: Demonstrated leadership, strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal communication skills, collaborative work style, and the ability to organize, plan, think creatively, administer programs, and make decisions.
· Travel: Ability to travel frequently during the week and on weekends and participate in evening and weekend job-related activities.
