About
I am a dedicated and student-centered educator with over six years of experience working in Montgomery County Public Schools. I am a certified Maryland Social Studies teacher with experience teaching U.S. History and World History, and I currently serve as a Special Education teacher supporting students with significant disabilities. Throughout my career, I have been committed to creating inclusive and supportive learning environments that promote academic growth, independence, and meaningful student engagement.
In my current role as an SCB (School-Community-Based) Special Education Teacher at Thomas S. Wootton High School, I design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with the Maryland Alternate Achievement Standards. I regularly collect and analyze student data to monitor progress and adjust instruction accordingly. My instruction integrates functional academics, communication development, and community-based learning experiences to help students build independence and real-world skills. I also collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams—including speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and adaptive physical education staff—to ensure students receive comprehensive support tailored to their needs.
Previously, I worked as a Paraeducator at John F. Kennedy High School, where I supported teachers in delivering differentiated instruction and accommodations for students with diverse learning needs. I assisted with classroom management, behavior support, and small-group instruction to help reinforce academic concepts and promote student success. I also served as a Long-Term Substitute Teacher at James Hubert Blake High School, where I delivered daily instruction across multiple subject areas, maintained effective classroom management, and supported student learning through consistent communication with school staff.
Earlier in my career, I worked as a Substitute Teacher throughout Montgomery County Public Schools, gaining valuable experience working with students at both the middle and high school levels. These experiences strengthened my ability to adapt instruction, manage diverse classrooms, and support students with a wide range of academic and behavioral needs.
I hold a Master of Education in Special Education from Moreland University and a Bachelor of Science in History from Towson University. My professional skills include lesson planning, differentiated instruction, classroom management, data-driven assessment, inclusive education practices, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
I am fluent in English and Korean and have basic proficiency in Japanese, which supports my ability to communicate effectively with diverse communities. My goal as an educator is to continue fostering inclusive classrooms, supporting students with diverse learning needs, and helping every student develop the skills necessary for long-term academic and personal success.
