We are looking for a warm, enthusiastic, and dedicated Lead Preschool Teacher to join our school community and help create a positive, engaging, and nurturing experience for our youngest learners.
Our preschool program is more than childcare. We provide a structured early learning environment where children begin developing academic, social, emotional, and spiritual foundations while learning through play, exploration, relationships, and hands-on experiences.
About the Role
The Lead Preschool Teacher will be responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom environment while supporting the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development of preschool students.
The ideal candidate is someone who genuinely enjoys working with young children, values strong relationships with families, and is excited about being part of a Catholic school community.
Qualifications
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, or a degree in another field with coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education or Child Development and at least six months of experience teaching preschool-age children
- Lead Teachers must be at Step 7 on the Oregon Registry Online (ORO) or hold a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
- Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification
- Enrollment in the Office of Child Care’s Central Background Registry (CBR)
- Current Food Handler’s Certification
- Experience working with preschool-age children preferred
- Commitment to creating a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 7:15 a.m.–3:45 p.m.
Responsibilities
The Preschool Lead Teacher:
- Creates a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment where each child feels known, valued, and supported.
- Plans and implements developmentally appropriate learning experiences that promote children’s social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual development.
- Observes and documents children’s growth and development and uses this information to support individual learning needs.
- Establishes positive, respectful relationships with children and their families.
- Communicates regularly and professionally with parents and guardians regarding their child’s development, learning, and well-being.
- Works collaboratively with other teachers, school staff, families, and early childhood professionals.
- Maintains a well-organized, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate classroom.
- Follows all applicable Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care (DELC) regulations, licensing requirements, and school policies.
- Supports children in developing independence, confidence, kindness, cooperation, and respect for others.
- Participates in school activities, professional development, staff meetings, and other responsibilities that support the preschool program and school community.
- Promotes each child’s learning, well-being, and development in partnership with parents and other early childhood professionals in a manner consistent with the standards and expectations of the Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care (DELC).
