St. Peter Catholic School in Forest Lake, MN is hiring an
Elementary Religion Teacher. The ideal candidate will provide instruction of the religion curriculum to kindergarten – 6
th Grade students while being a joyful witness to the beauty and truth of the Catholic faith.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
- Teach elementary school religion in accordance with the school’s curriculum and so as to be in total alignment with the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Prepare daily lesson plans and structure curriculum.
- Instruct and assess students using a variety of methods and tools.
- Have an in-depth understanding of the Sacraments, especially Reconciliation and the Eucharist.
- Exhibit competence in age appropriate and developmentally appropriate instructional methods and knowledge of subject matter.
- Create a classroom environment that fosters growth and development in the Catholic faith.
- Maintain a positive learning environment.
- Demonstrate effective, appropriate classroom management skills.
- Have the willingness and ability to learn and use technology skills as the position demands.
- Communicate effectively with administration, fellow staff members, and the greater parish community.
- Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate conduct at all times with supervisors, fellow staff members, parents, and students both in the classroom and throughout the campus.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians and families concerning issues or problems that may arise. Conduct conferences with parents twice a year to discuss and review student progress.
- Be knowledgeable and supportive of the school’s mission, philosophy and code of conduct.
- Reinforce Catholic educational identity throughout the school, parish, and local communities.
- Serve as a positive role model and supportive adult to children and their families, at all times acting as a witness to the Catholic faith.
- Participate in in-service classes, workshops, and staff development opportunities to maintain professional licensure and knowledge base.
- Attend faculty and other parish or school meetings as required.
- Participate in fundraisers and parish/school events as assigned by the principal. Must be able to attend parish/school related activities outside of regular classroom hours.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Required:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Be an active, practicing Roman Catholic
- Preferred:
- Current Minnesota teaching license
- Previous related experience
