SUMMARY:
At Catholic Charities West Virginia (CCWVa), we have a culture deeply rooted in Catholic social teaching and respect all Catholic beliefs and practices.
The Outreach Assistant is responsible for direct assistance for client aid, operation of the food pantry, Thrift Store, and assisting with special/seasonal events.
II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
· Assists with transportation of food from Kroger and Mountaineer Food Bank.
· Assists with the transportation of heavy items including furniture and appliances for the Thrift Store.
· Assists with special distributions throughout the region.
· Assists with operating the cash register in the Thrift Store.
· Operation of the food pantry.
· Completes emergency assistance applications.
· Determines client eligibility for aid.
· Contacts appropriate utility companies, pharmacies, etc. with information assistance.
· May require travel.
III. ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
· Maintains, picks up, and organizes thrift store donations.
· Assists with special/seasonal events as needed.
· Attends appropriate training.
· Attends staff meetings.
· Locates other resources to enhance programs and services.
· Performs other duties assigned by the Outreach Coordinator.
· The employee must possess vision, ability to read, write, and operate a motor vehicle.
IV. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· No supervisory responsibilities.
V. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
• High school or equivalent, plus sufficient experience in customer service.
• Ability to work with economically disadvantaged clientele with compassion, understanding and a positive attitude.
• Own transportation helpful.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
VI. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
· The employee must often lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
· Comfortable operating a 10-foot box truck.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to write, type, etc.
