Description:
The Assistant Coordinator of Middle School Ministry is assisting for the evangelization and formation of the Middle school students as missionary disciples and their integration into the parish life. This includes assisting in planning, organizing, and leading students on regular weekly formation as well as sacrament preparation with Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation. The position reports to the Director of Faith Formation and operates under supervision with little latitude for the use of independent judgment and initiative.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of St. Helen Catholic Church in both your professional and personal life.
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed.
- Assist in coordinating Middle School events that inspire and motivate students to participate in the life of the parish.
- Assist in researching, developing, and proposing a comprehensive curriculum for Middle School students to grow in the Catholic faith and in community (i.e. off site and overnight retreats) and a curriculum for sacramental according to the Religious Education Guidelines and Evangelization Catechesis Manual of the Diocese of Austin.
- Provide support for the recruitment, training and support of the catechists.
- Assist in managing intake and registration for Middle school’s formation classes and other necessary documentation for those preparing for sacraments; assist in compiling information for entry into sacramental records.
- Communicate with families in person and through the parish’s communication platforms weekly and monthly.
- Collaborate with other staff in executing and evaluating plan for youth events.
- Ensure Diocesan policy is followed and executed in all areas of Youth ministry especially as applies to EIM and CTPY.
- Maintains availability throughout the week in order to serve the needs of the parish to include pastor, staff, and volunteers during and outside of normal church office hours.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
- 1 full-time year or 2 part-time years of experience working or volunteering in a Catholic parish, school or diocese with elementary to intermediate-age children.
Catholic Requirement:
- Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing.
Language:
- Bilingual English-Spanish (proficient in writing, reading and conversing).
Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid Texas driver’s license.
- Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
Working Conditions:
- All employees of the Parish are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the Pastor in the exercise of his ministry and obligations to the church.
- The Parish is an at-will employer.
- All buildings and vehicles owned by the Parish are tobacco free.
- Working in a fast paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly.
- Working on weekends, evenings and some holidays may be required.
- Will be exposed to religious ceremonies, conduct and speech including Catholic Christian prayer and liturgical celebrations.
- Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards.
- May be required to use personal vehicle to drive off-site locations.
Ministerial Character
The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the Parish (St. Helen Catholic Church - Georgetown, Texas) which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ’s mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. Positions employed at St. Helen Catholic Church - Georgetown, Texas help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.
