Sacred Heart Nativity Schools is an independent Catholic middle school for underserved scholars in the Guadalupe Washington neighborhood in San Jose, CA. Our single-gender schools–Sacred Heart Nativity School for Boys (established in 2001) and Our Lady of Grace Nativity School for Girls (established 2006)– located on one campus, form the whole person, nurturing the growth and development of a child’s heart, mind, and spirit.
In partnership with our students’ families, we deliver a uniquely effective education that includes an extended school day and school year, dedicated and caring teachers, personal mentoring and continuing support through high school and beyond.
Nativity is co-sponsored by the Society of Jesus, the Diocese of San José, and the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
OPPORTUNITY
Sacred Heart Nativity seeks a committed principal to join its Leadership Team. As the Chief Academic Officer and instructional leader responsible for student growth, the Principal will engage and support a diverse faculty and staff committed to the school’s mission and will effectively manage the school’s academic, religious, and co-curricular life.
The ideal candidate is an inspirational leader who will provide clear direction and an unwavering belief in the capacity and potential of every Nativity student.
The Principal will:
- Understand, support, and model the school’s Catholic missions and Jesuit identity.
- Demonstrate strong instructional leadership, adhering to evidence-based educational practices, implementing established curriculum, while leading instructional and support staff to meet the educational needs of predominantly English Language Learners.
- Ensures ongoing professional development for faculty and staff.
- Maintain a school climate and culture reflective of the school’s mission, vision, and core beliefs as a Catholic Jesuit school.
- Cultivate a culturally responsive, vibrant, meaningful, and collaborative relationship with the community and its stakeholders.
- Engage in ongoing professional development as a lifelong learner, particularly regarding Catholic teaching, Jesuit history, Jesuit education, and Ignatian spirituality.
- Work in collaboration with the governing board and the school leadership team to ensure the operational vitality of the school.
