Job Summary
St. Cecilia School & Academy is seeking a mission‑driven Middle School Math and Science Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. This role is ideal for an educator who is passionate about shaping young learners, supporting academic rigor, and fostering a classroom culture rooted in Catholic values, collaboration, and curiosity.
Position Overview
The Middle School Math and Science Teacher will guide students in grades 6–8 through key mathematical concepts and scientific inquiry. The teacher will design engaging lessons, support diverse learners, and work closely with colleagues to ensure students develop strong problem‑solving skills, content understanding, and confidence across disciplines. This educator plays a vital role in preparing students for success in high school and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach middle school math courses such as general math, pre‑algebra, and algebra readiness.
- Teach middle school science, including life, earth, and physical science units aligned to curriculum standards.
- Design and implement engaging lessons that promote critical thinking, hands‑on learning, and real‑world application.
- Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction to meet varied learning needs.
- Maintain accurate records of grades, assessments, and instructional plans.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, instructional support staff, and administrators to align curriculum and support student growth.
- Communicate consistently with families regarding progress, expectations, and academic support.
- Foster a respectful, inclusive, and faith‑filled classroom environment.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school community events.
Qualifications
- State teaching certification required; certification in Math, Science, or Middle Grades Education preferred.
- Experience teaching middle school students highly valued.
- Strong content knowledge in math and science, with the ability to scaffold instruction effectively.
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
