Visitation Catholic School is seeking a dedicated, faith-filled, and student-centered Primary Teacher (Kindergarten–Grade 2) to join our collaborative and mission-driven school community. The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education, committed to meeting the needs of all learners, and excited to help young students grow academically, socially, and spiritually.
Position Overview
The Primary Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing, structured, and engaging classroom environment that supports foundational skill development in literacy, math, social-emotional learning, and faith formation. This teacher works closely with colleagues, families, and student support staff to ensure every child is known, supported, and challenged.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with curriculum standards and the Science of Reading
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that supports social-emotional growth and student independence
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including those requiring enrichment or intervention
- Use assessment data to inform instruction and support student progress
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, specialists, and the Student Support Team
- Communicate regularly and effectively with families
- Integrate Catholic values and faith formation into daily instruction
- Maintain accurate records, lesson plans, and documentation
- Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school events
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Valid teaching certification (Missouri or ability to obtain)
- Experience teaching in primary grades (K–2) preferred
- Strong knowledge of early literacy development and foundational math skills
- Commitment to inclusive education and best practices for diverse learners
- Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills
- Supportive of and committed to the mission of Catholic education
- Familiarity with the Catholic understanding of ministry is an asset.
