The Athletic Director provides strategic leadership, vision, and oversight for a comprehensive interscholasticathleticsprogramservingstudentsin grades 6–12. The Athletic Director must deeply appreciate and actively promote the unique mission of Catholic education, recognizing that athletics plays a vital role in forming the whole student: mind, body, and soul. The Athletic Director is tasked with ensuring that all Saint Joseph’s coaches are trained in Athletics the Saint Joseph’s Way. Our athletic program is intrinsically linked to the educational mission and is a visible expression of our Catholic identity. The successful candidate will ensure that all athletic teams are first and foremost communities that foster personal formation in faith, virtue, discipline, teamwork, and excellence, according to the Saint Joseph’s Way.
The Athletic Director is responsible for the daily operation, long-term planning, and continuous improvementoftheathleticsprogram,includingpersonnelmanagement,compliance,budgeting, facilities, communications, and community engagement.

Effectively communicate the School’s vision of the athletic program to students, parents, employees, and the broader Saint Joseph’s community
Leadership&Administration ServeasamemberoftheSchoolAdministrationTeamandcollaboratewithDivisionHeads and senior leadership.
Developandimplementshort-andlong-rangestrategicplans fortheathleticsprogram that serve the overall strategic vision of the School.
Advocateforstudent-athletesandcoacheswhilebalancinginstitutional priorities.
Coordinatethemasterathleticscalendarinalignmentwiththeoverallschool calendar.
PersonnelManagement Recruit,hire,supervise,mentor,andevaluateall coaches.
Provideleadershipandprofessionalgrowthopportunitiesfortheathletic staff.
Establishandmaintainclearjobdescriptions,expectations,andevaluationprocesses.
Holdregularmeetingswithcoaches,athleticstaff,and parents.
Mediateparent–coachandathlete–coachconcernswhennecessary.
ProgramOversight Overseeallinterscholasticathleticprogramsandreviewofferingsannuallybasedonstudent interest and resources.
Publish,update,andenforcetheAthleticHandbook.
Coordinaterecognitionprograms,includingathleticbanquets,awards,andHallofFame activities (as applicable).
Directandmanagesummerathleticcamps,includingprogramdevelopment,staffing,and marketing.
Compliance&AthleticAssociations Ensurecompliancewithallrules andregulationsofgoverningbodies(e.g.,SCHSL related guidelines and other applicable associations).
Serveastheschool’sofficialrepresentativetoathleticassociations,leagues,and conferences.
Overseeeligibilityverificationandensureacademicallyineligiblestudentsdonot participate.
Scheduling,Events&Transportation Work with Assistant Athletic Directors to developandapproveallathleticschedules,includinghomeandawaycontests.
Superviseathleticeventsandensureappropriatestaffing,officials,security,andmedical coverage.
Coordinatetransportationandhousingforoff-campusevents.
Supportthesafetransportationofstudent-athletesincollaborationwithfacilitiesand maintenance staff.
Facilities &Equipment Overseetheuse,maintenance,and cleanlinessofgyms,fields,andathleticfacilities.
Collaboratewithfacilitiespersonnelonscheduling,renovations,andlong-termfacility planning according to the School’s vision for its facilities
Managepurchasing,inventory,distribution,andcollectionofathleticequipmentand uniforms.
Budget&FinancialManagement Work with the Chief Financial Officer to prepareandmanagetheannualathleticsbudget.
Allocateresourcesresponsiblytosupportcompetitiveandsustainableprograms.
Overseeexpenditures,gatereceipts,payrollcoordination,andadherencetobusinessoffice procedures.
Maintainaccuratefinancialandparticipationrecords.
Communications&Advancement Ensuretimelyandaccuratecommunicationofschedules,results,andathleticsnews.
Overseewebsiteupdates,publications,weeklyathleticscommunications,andappropriate use of social media.
CollaboratewiththeCommunicationsandAdvancementteamstopromoteathletic programs and events.
PartnerwithInstitutionalAdvancementand oversee Boosterorganizationstosupportfundraising initiatives according to the School’s policies.
QualificationsRequired Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field.
Previouscoachingexperience.
Strongknowledgeofathleticprogramadministrationandcompliance.
Excellentleadership,organizational,andinterpersonal skills.
Abilitytocollaborate and communicate effectivelywithstudents,parents,faculty,staff,andexternal partners.
Comfortwithrelevanttechnologyanddatasystems.
Steadfast adherence to the Catholic vision of sports and the role it plays in the overall formation of the students.
Preferred Master’sdegreeorequivalentadministrativeexperience.
Priorschoolorathleticadministrationexperience.
Familiaritywithathleticmanagementsystems(e.g.,BigTeamsorsimilarplatforms).
