Assistant Principal Job Description
Current Opening: Walla Walla Catholic Schools (WWCS) has an opening for an Assistant Principal position for the 2026-2027 school year. Job Summary: The WWCS Assistant Principal position will serve grades K-12 which are currently on two campuses - Assumption Elementary Grades K-6 and DeSales grades 7-12. The Assistant Principal is a key member of the leadership team of a Catholic school. The Assistant Principal exercises a unique professional relationship of support and loyalty to the leadership of the WWCS, the President and Principal, and will serve as Principal during his or her absence. The Assistant Principal contributes to the collaborative decision-making processes and assists the principal in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of School goals, as well as playing a key role in the continued transformation of the school culture to a results-oriented professional learning community. The position may include a teaching assignment.
Relationship: The position is hired and evaluated by the WWCS Principal in consultation with the School’s President. It is anticipated that the Principal position will be opened for the 2027 or 2028 school year.
Contract Days: 215 days
Salary Range: $70-90,000 Offered salary is based on diocesan-wide pay for certain position, internal equity, market data, applicant's skills and relevant experience, degrees and certifications
Benefits: This position receives a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, life and long-term disability insurance, employee-paid 403(b) and employer-paid 401(a) state-paid family and medical leave, personal days and paid sick leave.

Job Functions
The Assistant Principal as Faith Leader:
● Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
● Acts as a witness to the Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
● Integrates mission and Catholic teaching into all aspects of the School.
● In collaboration with the Principal, facilitates an active school partnership with parents whose fundamental concern is the spiritual and academic education of their children.
● In collaboration with the Principal, helps students develop a service-oriented outreach to the Church and civic community after the example of Jesus.
● In collaboration with the Principal, ensures all school personnel are engaged in bringing the Good News of Jesus into the total educational experience.
The Assistant Principal as an Instructional Leader:
● Is knowledgeable in, and collaborates with the Principal in the design and implementation of curriculum, instruction and assessment practices.
● In collaboration with the Principal, assists in the ongoing evaluation and implementation of WCEA accreditation standards.
● Under the direction of the Principal, provides supervision, professional development and instructional practices for the staff to enhance student learning.
● In collaboration with the Principal, develops and implements a Professional Learning Communities (PLC’s) calendar and meeting agendas.
● In collaboration with the Principal, assists in the training of teachers in data analysis.
The Assistant Principal as a Communicator:
● In collaboration with the Principal, establishes communication processes and interactions among and between teachers, students and parents.
● Under the direction of the Principal, collaborates with other Catholic, private, public schools administrators and the Diocesan office.
● In collaboration with the Principal, promotes and celebrates school strengths and acknowledges needed areas of growth.
● Recognizes and celebrates individual teacher and student accomplishments. ● Under the direction of the Principal, use of appropriate conflict management skills.
The Assistant Principal as an Administrator:
● Under the direction of the Principal, ensures the WWCS are in compliance with all diocesan, federal and state policies and procedures.
● Assists the Principal in facilitating In-Services and Professional Growth opportunities for staff. ● Assists the Principal and the enrollment coordinator with student recruitment and retention. ● Assists the Principal with application of Human Resource policies.
● Assists the Principal in managing the health and safety of the schools.
● Under the direction of the Principal, ensure the maintenance and safeguarding of school records and reports.
● Assists the Principal in supervision of all school activities.
● Exhibits Professionalism in all interactions and situations.
Important Job Functions:

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
● Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
● Washington State Administrative Certification or ability to attain one Preferred Experience:
● 5 years successful teaching experience
● Administrative Experience
● Knowledge of and experience in Catholic Education is preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
● Knowledge of instructional methods/strategies, and curriculum differentiation
● Knowledge of child development, learning, and behavior
● Ability to identify and work with teachers to enhance student behavior in classroom setting

● Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading
● Required to monitor students in a variety of locations with noise, activity, and inclement weather
